Things to do at the Guest House

Swimming Pools & Lapas: ilanda Guest House has two swimming pools with lapas for you to enjoy. Please ensure children are always supervised.
Braai Facilities: All self-catering units and lapas have braais. Firewood/charcoal is not provided, but can be purchased from the nearby Engen or Checkers Sixty60 delivery.
Gazebo: A covered gazebo for relaxation is located next to Room 12.
Kids’ Activities: Children's activities available at ilanda Guest House include a trampoline, swing, and games are in front of Room 12. The jungle gym is behind House C.
Private Dam: Our private dam makes for a pleasant walk. A small cabin overlooks the dam. If the gate is closed, use code (please consult your in room booklet) to open it.
Fishing: You are welcome to fish in the dam (catch-and-release only). Please use your own tackle and bait. The dam has bass & kurper. Wikus Angling sells fishing supplies.
Garden: Enjoy the indigenous trees, plants, and succulents in our garden. Feel free to explore—you’ll always find something in bloom or bearing fruit. We’ve digitally labelled many trees with links to descriptions. Just open the map above in Google Maps.
Walking Trail: Part of the property is left as “wild” veld, perfect for a walk or jog. You may spot Grey Duiker, Dwarf Mongoose, Banded Mongoose, and various birds during the day. At night, look out for Nightjars and White-Tailed Mongoose. See the map of trails.
Chickens: Our Boschveld chickens roam freely in their run and the veld. They enjoy company and love treats. Free treats are available in the chicken run, and they go crazy for stale bread if you have any!
Aloe simii: A rare aloe endemic to this region. We have a natural population near the dam, best seen in flower between January and March.
Beehives: We have a few beehives on the property. You’re welcome to view them from a safe distance. We sell 500g of raw, unfiltered honey for R100.
Fruit Trees & Vegetable Garden: Feel free to stroll and see what is growing, but please do not pick any fruit or produce without prior authorization.
In the orchard we have Macadamia, pecan, litchis, mangos, avocados, papaya, bananas, and more.
In the vegetable garden: Traditional African vegetables like cheke (amaranth), gushe (Jew’s mallow), nkaka (Momordica balsamina), and manioc.
